Course Description:
The purpose of these weekly online meetings is for participants to refresh and maintain their English speaking skills. Each week will consist of approximately 15 minutes of reading or exercises on a particular topic (provided by the instructor via ILIAS) and 45 minutes of speaking and listening practice centered around that topic in a relaxed, friendly environment with the guidance of an instructor. Topics may include but are not limited to common workplace situations, your role within the university, dealing with students, vocabulary for the university, and current events in the English speaking world.
- Previous knowledge expected: Participants should have approximately an A2/B1 level of English (4 years of school English or more).

Polishing Email and Telephone Skills
Emails and phone calls in English are an essential part of business communications. This mini course will review standard email formats to use in any situation, proper etiquette, and common mistakes. We’ll also cover common phrases to use on the telephone and practice a variety of scenario dialogues to hone our telephone skills.

This mini course will help you prepare for the competitive English-language job market. From crafting compelling cover letters and resumes to honing your interview skills and practicing key English phrases, this course provides a solid starting point for your job search success.

This mini course is designed for non-native English speakers working in the academic world. Enhance your communication skills by practicing vocabulary for common university scenarios like giving directions, explaining requirements, dealing with difficult situations, answering questions in office hours, and making requests. Delve into the world of false friends, idioms, typical university vocabulary and phrasal verbs to help you avoid misunderstandings and build your confidence and fluency in an academic setting. (3 hours coursework 1 hour Ilias self-study and 2 hours inpresence).
